The Foundation of Modern Logistics
Pallets are the unsung heroes of global commerce. These simple flat transport structures enable efficient handling, storage, and movement of goods throughout supply chains worldwide. An estimated 500 million pallets are in circulation in the United States alone.
The standard pallet was developed during World War II to improve military logistics, and the concept quickly spread to civilian industry. Today, pallets are essential for warehouse operations, truck loading, retail distribution, and international shipping.
Used pallets offer significant cost savings while providing the same functionality as new units. With proper inspection and grading, used pallets can serve multiple shipping cycles and dramatically reduce packaging costs for businesses of all sizes.

Wood Pallets
Wood pallets remain the dominant choice for shipping and storage due to their affordability, repairability, and versatility. We stock both stringer and block pallet designs.
Stringer Pallets
The most common pallet type in North America. Named for the parallel "stringer" boards that run between the deck boards. Available in 2-way or 4-way entry configurations.
Features
- • Economical construction
- • Easy to repair
- • Widely available
- • Good for light to medium loads
Best For
- • One-way shipping
- • General warehousing
- • Retail distribution
- • Light manufacturing
Block Pallets
Constructed with blocks of solid wood between the deck boards instead of stringers. Provides true 4-way forklift entry and higher load capacity. Often called "GMA" pallets.
Features
- • 4-way forklift entry
- • Higher load capacity
- • More durable construction
- • Consistent quality
Best For
- • Heavy loads
- • Automated systems
- • Multiple trips
- • Food & beverage
Hardwood Pallets
Made from oak, maple, or other dense hardwoods. Offers maximum strength and durability for heavy loads. More expensive but longer lasting. Preferred for export and heavy industrial applications.
- • Weight capacity: 3,000-5,000 lbs
- • Higher cost per unit
- • Excellent for multiple trips
Softwood Pallets
Made from pine, spruce, or other softwood lumber. More economical than hardwood while still providing good performance. Lighter weight makes them easier to handle and reduces shipping costs.
- • Weight capacity: 2,000-3,500 lbs
- • Lower cost per unit
- • Good for domestic shipping
Plastic Pallets
Plastic pallets offer superior durability, hygiene, and consistency. Ideal for clean environments, export shipping without heat treatment, and applications requiring repeated washing.
Plastic pallets last significantly longer than wood, providing better long-term value despite higher initial cost.
At end of life, plastic pallets can be recycled into new pallets or other plastic products.
Plastic pallets typically weigh less than wood equivalents, reducing shipping costs and worker fatigue.
Nestable Plastic Pallets
Feature a design that allows empty pallets to stack inside each other, dramatically reducing storage space and return shipping costs. Ideal for closed-loop systems.
- 12:1 nesting ratio common
- Perfect for export shipments
- Light to medium duty loads
Rackable Plastic Pallets
Heavy-duty construction designed for use in pallet racking systems. Reinforced runners and deck provide support for unsupported loads across rack beams.
- 2,500+ lb racking capacity
- Warehouse and distribution
- Heavy-duty applications
Standard Pallet Sizes
While custom sizes are available, most pallets conform to industry-standard dimensions that optimize truck loading and warehouse storage.
GMA Pallet
The most common pallet size in North America. Standard for grocery, retail, and general manufacturing. Fits perfectly in trucks and standard racking.
Telecom Pallet
Square design commonly used in telecommunications, paint, and drum industries. Provides excellent stability for cylindrical containers.
Drum Pallet
Large square pallet for 55-gallon drums and heavy machinery. Common in chemical, petroleum, and automotive industries.
Chemical Pallet
Common in chemical and beverage industries. Slightly wider than GMA standard to accommodate specific container sizes.

Heat Treated Pallets (ISPM-15)
International shipping regulations require wood pallets to be heat treated to prevent the spread of invasive pests. Pallets meeting ISPM-15 standards are stamped with an official mark indicating compliance.
Heat treatment involves raising the core temperature of the wood to 56°C (132.8°F) for at least 30 minutes. This process kills any insects or larvae in the wood without using harmful chemicals.
All our heat-treated pallets come with proper certification and stamping. If you're shipping internationally, ensure you request ISPM-15 compliant pallets for your order.
