What is a Gaylord Box?
A gaylord box, also called a bulk bin or pallet box, is a large corrugated container for storing, shipping and handling bulk materials. The name comes from the Gaylord Container Corporation.
Gaylords are built to sit on a pallet, or have one attached, so they can be moved with a forklift and stacked in a warehouse.
Construction
Wall strength, bottom style and top style decide what a box suits
Wall Strength
Single, double, triple and heavier multi-wall board. More walls carry heavier loads; check the box rating or ask the supplier.
Bottom Styles
Full bottom flaps, partial flaps, an attached pallet base, or a separate pallet.
Top Styles
Open top, full or partial flaps, or a separate lid.
Shapes
Rectangular boxes and eight-sided (octagonal) bins.
Accessories
Plastic liners, dividers and strapping can be added for some uses.

Condition Grades
Grade names differ between suppliers. Confirm the condition before you order.
Like New
Lightly used, clean, with no holes or tears and sound corners.
Standard
Minor scuffs, light staining or old printing, still structurally sound.
Economy
Visible wear or minor repairs. Often used for a single trip.
Recycling Grade
At the end of its life; suited to scrap collection or recycling.

How is a gaylord different from a regular box?
